With the alarming increase of  obesity in US no doubt there are many anti-obesity drugs that are now available on the market. But among the many numbers of anti-obesity pills or weight loss supplements in the market only Belviq gained the approval and endorsement of Food and Drug Administration.

It is for the less harmful side effects that Belviq researchers presented to FDA, plus the growing rate of obesity in the US that made the FDA approve and endorse the weight loss drug.

But for most anti-obesity drugs including Belviq, there are common side effects that a patient might experience when taking weight loss drug or food supplements. These side effects may include the following symptoms:

  • Irritability
  • Nausea
  • Insomnia
  • Undesirable interaction with other  prescription drugs that one is taking
  • Irregular heart rate
  • Depression
  • Memory lapses
  • Migraines
  • Restlessness
  • Sweating

  • Back pain
  • Constipation
  • Low blood sugar

For those who are taking weight loss prescribed drugs you might feel one or more of the above mentioned symptoms, or sometimes nothing at all.

One must also take into consideration when taking natural weight loss drugs or supplements, that most of these drugs are not approved by FDA. So long term side effects are not well documented, unknown or not well studied by appropriate authorities, nor it has the product gone through appropriate testing.

Though some drugs that has gained FDA’s approval may be a bit costly, still it is safer to take medications that has gone through FDA’s tight screening, and that you can be secured that if in case things go wrong, you know where to find them and that you can make a report to the FDA so they can take necessary actions.

As of the moment the Belviq drug is not yet out in the market, more or less it will be out in the market by next year.

It is always advisable that people try to lose weight through health programs that encourage healthy eating and taking up sports, but always consult a doctor first,

But this is definitely a better alternative than weight loss supplements, but again always consult your physician first.
